About our president---Mr. Liu Xianlin As a photogrammetric and remote sensing expert, Mr. Liu Xianlin now serves as CASM Honorary President and Beijing Geo-Vision President. In 1994 he was elected as one of the first CAE academicians. Mr. Liu was born in Wuji County, a city in Hebei Province of China, on April 19, 1939 and graduated from Wuhan Mapping Institute in 1962.
With over 30 years of research experience in photogrammetric and aerial survey instruments, Mr. Liu is so excellent in expertise and theoretical understanding that he has made remarkable R&D achievements and become the academic leader in China's manufacturing industry of aerial survey instruments. Mr. Liu is also:
---Inventor of Coordinate Method for Analytical Radial Triangulation, which was the first method from China that was included in a specification: 1:50000 and 1:100000 topographic maps - Specifications for aerophotogrammetric office operation;
---Developer of an analytic plotter (1992 CNSTIP 1st Prize) and the Digital Mapping Technical Integration & Industrialization (2001 CNSTIP 1st Prize) ; and
---Developer of JX-4C DPW Digital Photogrammetry Workstation, Image Scanner, and 3DVR, which have been supplied in batches to some developed countries.
Mr. Liu has published a number of quality academic papers, among others, including: ---ZS-1 orthophoto projector and a digital control plotter were of the choice to read out on the 14th and 15th ISPRS congresses respectively and collected in the proceedings;
---In 1981, he was invited by ISPRS Commission-III to participate in a joint research on global DTM. ---In 1984, Mr. Liu was invited to stay in France for a month to give lectures, as the first one from China SBSM and its subordinates being invited to a foreign country to give a lecture, with the lecture notes completely published in an IGN (Institut Geographique National) publication.
---In 1998 he wrote Analytic plotters in China, which was invited to report on 16th ISPRS and included in the proceedings of the Congress.
---In 1998, Mr. Liu participated in a one-year joint research in University of Illinois as a senior visiting scholar, delivering work recognized by partners.
Mr. Liu in his years of efforts has completed a number of projects in which scientific results were emphasized to service China's modernization and generated considerable social and economic benefits, eminently contributing to China's air survey.
